WildMorrow publishes guides for people who are new to camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, and paddling. This page sets out the standards we hold ourselves to and how you can hold us to them.
Who we are and who pays us
WildMorrow is an independent publication. We are not owned by a gear manufacturer, retailer, or outdoor brand, and no outside party has approval rights over what we publish.
Our revenue comes from affiliate commissions on some of the products we link to. That relationship is disclosed at the top of every post where it applies and explained in full on our affiliate disclosure page. It does not influence our recommendations, and the reasoning behind that is set out in how we research and recommend.
Editorial independence
Recommendations are made on the merits, and the merits only. We do not sell placement in our guides. We do not publish sponsored content dressed up as editorial. We do not let a brand review an article before it runs. If any of that ever changes, this page changes first and the disclosure will be unmissable.
Accuracy
We aim to be right, and to be checkable.
Factual claims about safety, regulations, or physical limits are sourced to primary authorities, including the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, state fish and wildlife agencies, NOAA, and published medical guidance, and linked so you can verify them yourself. We do not source safety information from other blogs.
Where expert opinion genuinely differs, we present the disagreement rather than manufacturing a consensus. Where we are uncertain, we say we are uncertain. “It depends” is sometimes the honest answer, and we would rather give it than a confident wrong one.
Corrections
When we publish something wrong, we fix it in the open. Substantive corrections are made to the article and noted at the bottom with the date and what changed. We do not quietly edit and republish. For errors on safety-critical topics, the correction states plainly that the previous guidance was incorrect.

Updates and dating
Our guides are reviewed on a rolling basis. The last-updated date on a post changes when the substance changes: a new recommendation, revised guidance, corrected information. It does not change for typo fixes or formatting. If you see a recent date on this site, something meaningful was actually revised.
Discontinued products are removed or marked as discontinued rather than left to send you to a dead listing.
AI and how these articles are made
We use AI tools in our production process, for research assistance, drafting, and editing. Every article is reviewed by a person before it publishes, and the recommendations, the judgment calls, and the responsibility for what is on this site are ours.
We say this because we think you should know how the things you read are made, and because a lot of sites in this space are not saying it.
Safety and the limits of what we can tell you
Our guides are general information, not a substitute for local knowledge, current conditions, or professional instruction.
Ice thickness, water levels, wildlife activity, fire restrictions, and weather change constantly and vary enormously by location. Regulations for fishing and hunting are set locally and change annually. Always check current conditions with the managing agency for the area you are going to, and check current regulations with your state agency, before you go.
Nothing here is medical advice. If you have a health condition that could be affected by exertion, altitude, cold, or heat, talk to a doctor before planning a trip around our guides.
